Accreditation Issues at the National Level
"Foreseeing the Future of Accreditation", Inside Higher Ed, June 2008
"The Future of Education, Inside Higher Ed", March 2008
"No Gr_du_te Left Behind", NY Times Magazine 9-30-07
"A Pedagogical Straitjacket", by Laurie Fendrich, The Chronicle of Higher Education 6-8-2007
the first two articles are excellent and address the relationship between SLOs, national politics, and accreditation.
In her 10-07 rostrum article, Janet Fulks mentions two links that help define the battle lines between the accreditation process as we know it and federal accountability interests.
"Why Accreditation Doesn't Work and What Policymakers Can Do About It" describes perceived problems with the accreditation process.
"Here We Go Again...Sin, Salvation and Accreditation" is a rebuttal to the above article.
