| Work activities in this group primarily involve teaching a variety of subjects in a kindergarten, preschool, or elementary school. The subjects taught range from simple tasks, songs, games, discipline, cleanliness, and cooperation, to English, arithmetic, reading, geography, and history. Evaluating the learning abilities of the students in relation to the subject matter and determining the method, amount, complexity, and kind of instruction which will achieve maximum progress are involved. While most teaching occurs in public or private schools, some is conducted in private homes. |

| Interest in working with children and ability to communicate with them; intellectual capacity sufficient to acquire necessary academic background and teaching techniques; organizational ability to present facts when answering students' questions and plan programs of instruction; arithmetic ability; and perception for clerical detail. |
