Work Performed

Work activities in this group primarily involve piloting airplanes for the transportation of passengers, freight, and mail, and other purposes, such as crop dusting. Activities also include testing new and experimental aircraft, automobiles, trucks, motor homes, and buses.

Worker Requirements
Ability to control movement of vehicles according to schedules, signals, traffic regulations, and weather conditions; verbal facility to understand technical material and intelligence to apply it when testing a vehicle and preparing detailed reports on its performance; spatial perception to visualize the relationship of controlled vehicles to other objects and relate symptoms indicative of malfunctioning to mechanical defects and disorders; eye-hand-foot coordination to move levers, pedals, and steering mechanism simultaneously; physical stamina, good vision and hearing, and no physical disabilities that would impair quick reactions.
