Work Performed

Typically, workers utilize such means as exercise, massage, heat, light, water, electricity, and specific therapeutic apparatus, usually as prescribed by a physician; or take part in medically oriented rehabilitative programs that include educational, occupational, and recreational activities.

Worker Requirements
Ability to comprehend such subjects as psychology, anatomy, and physiology, and to develop appropriate skills in arts and crafts; ability to relate subject matter and skills to therapeutic needs of individuals; ability to plan and direct activities of individuals or groups, and to evaluate effectiveness of activities in relation to changing needs of participants; ability to achieve and maintain empathy and rapport with physically disabled and mentally ill people; and ability to exercise necessary craft or artistic skills when required in demonstrating and instructing.
