Work Performed

Work activities in this group primarily involve investigation into living organisms and life processes; into the chemical and physical properties and compositional changes of substances; into the interaction of matter and energy; and into the composition, structure, and history of the earth’s crust. Typically, workers perform basic research to expand scientific knowledge of nature and the physical world, and they apply knowledge gained from research to the solution of practical problems and the development of new products and production processes.
