One
cautionary note:
This section is NOT intended to replace seeing a counselor!
It is strongly encouraged that you establish a regular advisement
routine with a counselor at MPC whom you trust and with whom you are
comfortable.
If you are “assigned” to a counselor the first time you seek
advisement, and it’s not a good match, don’t be afraid to ask to see a
different counselor the next time.
It’s your right, and it’s good practice for becoming an aware,
assertive consumer.
Establishing a working relationship with a counselor will help you
more often than you can probably even imagine at this time, but as you go
through this student guide, you’ll notice a number of situations where a
counselor’s assistance is not only advisable, but required.
You’ll
also notice that there are quite a few counselors
to choose from at MPC, especially if you’re eligible to participate
in one or more of the student support programs that will be described
later in this guide.
And all of us want you to succeed!
