GENERAL EDUCATION

Those students who complete a program in general education possess, in common, certain principles, concepts and methods of inquiry, either unique to or shared by the sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences.  The purpose of general education is to enable students to achieve an understanding of the methods by which knowledge is acquired, to comprehend the nature and function of human communication, to gain an understanding of human beings and their environment and to acquire a broad knowledge of the development of major civilizations and cultures.
