PART FOUR

Below you will find several topic questions about which you must write a responding essay. Read each question carefully before beginning to write. For those of you who wish to plunge right ahead you should choose two of the topics below and respond to them in a clear and concise manner. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, ESSAY, it is a short literary composition on a particular thesis or subject, usually in prose and generally analytic, speculative, or interpretative in nature. For those of you unfamiliar with PROSE, it is, by any other name, the ordinary form of written language, constructed without metric form. For those of you unfamiliar with the terms ANALYTIC, SPECULATIVE, and INTERPRETATIVE, they mean, in order, to be thoughtful and studious, to wonder and reason, and to explain or translate. For those of you unfamiliar with THOSE terms, please do not attempt to complete this part of the test. Instead, put your pencils down and return your test to the proctor. You will receive a Wal-Mart management application and a nice parting gift. For those choosing to complete this section; remember that you will be graded on writing style over and above any considerations of content, which for some of you, will amount to a virtual godsend. If you need more room to answer a question than the page allows, you are permitted to continue writing beyond the edges of the two dimensional plane. In such an instance however the testee is completely responsible for delivering his or her answers to the proctor in readable fashion. Desk tops and linoleum flooring will not be accepted.
