TEXTBOOK:  Calculus (6th Edition) or Calculus, Single Variable, (56th Ed)  by  Stewart
         The course covers chapters 7 - 12.
 
 
CALCULATOR
 
        All students are required to have a  graphing calculator.  On the first day of class
         suggestions will be given about specific types of calculators.
 
 
PREREQUISITE
 
        Math 20A or equivalent with grade of C or better in the last two years. 
 
 
ATTENDANCE:
 
        You are expected to attend all class meetings. If you miss a test (or during the first two
        weeks of if you miss three consecutive days), you will be dropped from the rolls. If you
        must be absent or if you miss a test but want to remain in the course, call the instructor.
 
        If you decide to drop the class, be sure to notify the instructor and also officially drop
        the course at the registrar's office by Tuesday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. Failure
        to do this may result in you receiving a grade of F in the course.
 
 
ELECTRONIC DEVICES:
 
        Please turn off all cell phones, pagers and other electronic devices during class. 
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES (Course objectives):
    
     
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
          1)  Analyze and apply limits, derivatives, definite and indefinite integrals
                of transcendental functions graphically and algebraically, polar and
                 parametric forms.
          2)  Use appropriate techniques to evaluate integrals
          3)  Find and apply power series representations of functions.

HOMEWORK:
 
        Homework will be assigned at each class meeting and discussed the following day.
        Most assignments will not be collected but must be done to learn the material. Do not
        get behind!

        Homework assignments will be posted o my website.  If you miss class, check the
        website for homework assignments and test dates.

EXAMS:
 
        Tests: There will be five tests during the semester. Each test will  cover one or two
             chapters in the book.  Test questions will be very similar to the homework problems.
             Tests dates will be announced in advance and posted on my webpage.
 
        Final Exam:  The final exam will cover the entire course and will count 2 test grades. 
             The final exam will be Tuesday, December 14, 10:15 am -  12:45 pm in PS-103
             
You must take the final exam at the scheduled time.  No early finals.
        Rules: Any violation of exam rules and procedures may result in the student being 
             dropped from the course or receiving an “F" grade.

      Make-ups There will be no make-up tests.   At the end of the semester, each
             person may drop his or her lowest test grade.  If a test is missed, that will be the
             one dropped.  You cannot drop the final exam grade.

           
GRADES:
 
        Tests will be given a percent score. Your grade in the course will be based on an
         average of these scores as follows:
 
                                A = 90 - 100%
                                B = 80 - 89%
                                C = 70 - 79%    
                                D = 60 - 69%
                                F = 0 - 59%
