Visit USA Program

Every summer a group of Japanese Students comes from the Osaka Jogakuin Girls School in Osaka, Japan  (pictured below) to study English at MPC and live with a "typical" American family.  The Home-stay program is arranged through Visit USA, a travel agency on the Monterey Peninsula, specializing in customized trips and programs for Japanese clients.

MPC Instructors work to make the students' experience rich in local culture and full of hands-on language practice.  The emphasis is on getting students comfortable with their verbal skills and becoming more proficient in the language.  Below are some pictures from our most recent summer programs with the students from the Osaka Jogakuin Girls School.  The MPC instructors for the program are: Molly May, Brian Brady, and Marie Butcher.   During our 2005 program we visited Mayor Dan Albert of Monterey, who shared with us the on-going relationship that exists between Monterey and  Nanao, Japan, Monterey's sister city.   (Click on the link to learn more.)
