Checklist 11

Checklist 11

Things to do by the end of Week 11 of Chemistry 1A.

The summer Chemistry 1B class often fills quickly, so you might want to register as early as possible.

If necessary, reread sections of Chapter 7 of Chemistry, The Molecular Science by Moore, Stanitski, and Jurs. Read Chapters 8 and 9 of Chemistry, The Molecular Science by Moore, Stanitski, and Jurs.

Study the following objectives in the Chemistry 1A booklet.

  All Chapter 7 objectives.

  Objectives 1-10 for Chapters 8/9.

Make Study Sheets for the following.

Writing complete electron configurations, orbital diagrams, and abbreviated electron configurations, including anomalies and ions. (See pages 150 and 151 in the booklet.)

Predicting relative atomic size, ionization energy, electron affinity, and electronegativity

Predicting covalent character of ionic bonds

  Drawing molecular orbital diagrams

Prepare sample answers to the following short answer objectives in

Chapter 7: 12, 16, 20-23, and 29-31

Chapter 8: 3 and 6
