Monday, January 31 (class 1)

Class

• Tell and discuss "Hansel and Gretel."

• Read "Are Fairy Tales Good for Children" on pages 18-20 of handout.

• Study use of general and specific in the reading; do exercises A and B on page 21.

• Topic sentences:  PowerPoint and Practice 3 on pages 21-2 of handout

Lab

• Write 150-200 words answering the question "Who Am I?"

• Double space, center title, use 12 point font, use spell-check, save it to a disk, print out and turn in.

Homework

• Read Course description at home.
• Do exercise A on page 23:  Write sentences on a sheet of paper to turn in

Wednesday, February 2 (class 2)

Class

• Go over course description, grading, etc. 
• Review homework on topic sentences.
• Group telling of "Cinderella," see page 25 of handout.
• Group discussion of questions on pages 26-27

Lab

• Write one or two paragraphs on whether you think
  "Cinderella" is good for children or not; save, print
  out and turn in.

Homework

• Exercise B, page 24:  Choose one of the topic sentences given and write a paragraph supporting it with examples.
