This list is meant to be a starting point.  You may find other motors and props that are more efficient. If you have a suggestion for this list or a new source, email us!

*Propellers and motors are available for purchase from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The propellers and motors are available to contest participants. The motors are NOT waterproof. The Aquarium will not be responsible for motor failures before or during the contest. These motors will run underwater with the propellers provided at 5 amps.  Your ROV is limited to 7amps of power.  Supplies are limited. Roller pins-3/16" (available at most hardware stores) are one way to ensure a tight fit between the shaft and the propeller. 

The props sold through the aquarium are fitted with a custom made fitting that allows them to be attached and detached.

 Mabuchi motor (FS -390PH) operates between 4.5 and 12 Vdc. No load rating; 9000 rpm @6Vdc @.39 Amp.  .1" diameter x .55" knurled shaft

2 banana plugs

 attach to the end of the power cord for insertion into the battery . You can slip these into the coils on a 6V battery for testing.

3 switches minimum

 "on-off-on"; has 3 positions on the switch (also called double pull, double throw switches)
