Dear students,

My name is Molly May, and I am a full-time instructor at Monterey Peninsula College. I also teach technical writing part-time at the Naval Postgraduate School.

Like many of you, Monterey is not my original hometown. My husband and I moved here in 1996 from Finland, where we were teaching Business English. I have also lived in France and England, as well as the states of California, Washington, Idaho, and Connecticut. Sometimes I feel as if I have no "hometown," but luckily I have friends and family all over the world now.  Last summer my family and I were fortunate to spend five weeks visiting our extended family and friends in Europe.

I used to enjoy many hobbies, but now my 12-year old son and 9-year old daughter take up most of my time when I get home from school. However, when I do have free time, I like to play tennis, work out, cook, and travel.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the field of international business, so I enjoy teaching business and marketable skills in my class whenever possible. My class goals are to provide you with the tools and skills necessary to read, write and/or speak in a variety of rhetorical modes appropriate for educational and professional applications.
