Extra Credit Opportunity:  up to 10 pts

During the semester, there will be several chances for you to do an outside observation report of public speaking situations.  I will announce these whenever I hear of local events.  If you notice any opportunities which might be suitable for a written report, please bring them to my attention.  YOU MAY ONLY DO ONE REPORT.  To receive extra-credit, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

1)  A minimum of one page, typed (double-spaced) report must be submitted.

2)  The report should include a description of the setting, speaker, summary of the speaking event, date, approximate size of audience, and your personal evaluation of the speech (what you learned, evaluation of the speaker's content and delivery).

3)  Your reaction to the event (valuable, confusing, enjoyable, worthwhile, etc...)

4)  The report will be due no later than the class period one week after the event.

5)  I will only accept reports up to May 23, 2011, 12:00 p.m.  NO EXCEPTIONS

Extra-credit will count in this order of priority:

1)  Replacement of absence policy penalty (up to 2 unexcused absences)

2)  Replacement of quiz scores

3)  Replacement of time-limit penalty on one speech

4)  Replacement of late penalty on one speech

5)  Consideration of final grade on border-line percentages
