Academic Senate Travel and Conferences
The PVP has agreed to send one Academic Senate representative
to each of the Fall and Spring to the ASCCC Plenary sessions.
Next Meeting in Marina
We'll meet October 20 in Marina
I believe the room is 401.
Meetings with Marty
There is a Tech Triage Task Force starting up.
The goal of this group is to identify areas where MPC's
technology is not user-centered.
Current faculty members include Stephanie Tetter, Eric Ogata,
and Judee Timm. Division tech people are Brian Streetman and Kenya Caldwell.
Apparently Doug got on the Internet the other day and tried
to register for a class.
A result of this experience is a Task Force to investigate
the usability of the MPC website. Apparently Rosaleen Ryan is heading up this
group. The idea of an outside consultant to help with this effort has been
mentioned. I don't have more information on this issue at this time.
An Educational Master Plan group has been convened. Marty has
asked Diane Boynton and LaRon Johnson to serve. The charge of this group is to
come up with a plan on how to proceed. Then they're done.
Basic Skills. We'll hear the story on Oct 20.
I have alerted AAAG about the need for faculty members to
serve on committees, especially the CAC.
Probably the biggest news out of AAAG is the effort to prioritize new faculty
requests. Since the year 2000, MPC is down about 21 faculty members. This
semester, there are about 21 requests for new faculty. Here they are. I hope the
links lead to the faculty position request documentation from each division.
AAAG will be voting to prioritize the five top positions at its next meeting.
ASCCC SLO Committee
Is working on regional SLO coordinator training sessions. We
tried for October, but realized that the planning stage got too short. Now
planned for late 2011 or early 2012. We'll keep you updated. MPC may host one.
MPC SLO Committee
Has drafted a plan for addressing ACCJC recommendations 1-3.
It is now ready for the Academic Senate. It will be posted soon. We'll cover
this issue next time in Marina.
Two proposed board policies have come our way via PACC. They

2011-2012 Review of Process and Procedure
I'm wondering if people would want to more consistently use
the parliamentary procedure / motions to make decisions.
It would help me determine what is really important to
This is important in giving me an indication as to what I
should emphasize when I go to AAAG / College Council / other groups on campus.
