Doug Levin– presentation abstract

Doug will be presenting a workshop on building ROVs at the NASA preservice teacher conference in February 2005 in Alexandria, Virginia.

ABSTRACT:
Participants will build low cost remotely operated vehicles that can be used in swimming pools. This program follows curriculum designed by the Marine Advanced Technology Education Center of Monterey Peninsula College in California and is part of a NASA/UMES partnership called “Robotics in the Classroom”. This workshop integrates lessons in electricity, buoyancy, propulsion, geometric design, and team work with the natural sciences. Funding dependent, participants will leave the classroom with a basic underwater robot.
