ENGR 1
FINAL REPORT
Due: at the beginning of the Final Exam Day. Please turn in an electronic copy
by emailing to me at
trebold (at) mpc.edu
The final report is worth 10 points for each person on a team. Each team needs
to submit only one report. Everyone on the team will get the same grade.
However, you will have an opportunity to evaluate each other's contribution
during the peer evaluation which will be performed on the last day of class at
the end of the final exam.
For the report, I'm looking for:
2-3 double-spaced TYPED pages
describing the design and outcome of your design project.
As an example of engineering communication, you can follow the basic
format outlined below (more information is on p176-180 of your text)
Title (and authors)
Abstract
A brief summary of the report and its main
conclusions (one paragraph in italics)
Introduction
Design and Rationale
Include neatly drawn engineering drawings (by hand or
SketchUp), showing the
Shape and dimensions of your project (you may need to scan the images to
include in
your report)
Explain why you chose the design you ended up with.
Test Results
Include a description of how well your catapult
operates, any problems that arose in development.
Conclusions and recommendations
How well did your product meet the objectives?
What would you do
differently next time?
What would you recommend for future contestants?
Team Evaluation
Identify the general areas of contribution of your
team members
How effective was your team? Were there
disagreements? How were they resolved?
Example of an engineering report, see:
http://tmo.jpl.nasa.gov/progress_report/42-131/131I.pdf
Make sure you are
delegating work in your teams. If one team member is doing a lot of the
building, the other should offer to work on the report.
