Tuyen Nguyen has been
a full-time mathematics instructor at Monterey Peninsula College
since August 17, 1999. Prior to that, he was an adjunct instructor
at Hartnell College, Monterey Peninsula College, and California
State University–Monterey Bay. Nguyen has taught a math course in
the Business and Liberal Studies Departments at CSU–Monterey Bay.
His passion is teaching different level math courses along with
using technology in classroom and developing On-Line courses.
Before becoming a
full-time mathematics instructor at MPC, Nguyen had developed the
Math Quantitative Literacy and Intensive Math Review, which were
taught at California State University at Monterey Bay. He also
served as a member of Math On-Line courses and a member of the
search committee in the Institution for Mathematical Sciences &
Applications at CSU-Monterey Bay.
Before becoming a
math instructor at the university and junior colleges, he taught
math at Carden El Encanto Middle School in Santa Clara and Alisal
High School in Salinas.
In addition to
teaching at MPC, Nguyen teaches Vietnamese as a volunteer to
Vietnamese children at the Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in San Jose.
He currently serves as one of the leaders of the Vietnamese Buddhist
Youth Association (Gia Dinh Phat Tu) of Northern California.
Nguyen is one of the
faculty advisers for the Monterey Peninsula College Vietnamese
Student Association and has organized its Annual Culture Show since
1999.
His greatest joy is
spending time with friends and sharing many hobbies – including
reading, hiking, camping, traveling, and improving his computer
skills.
