The MPC Foundation is pleased to announce that $10,000 is available to MPC faculty for the George J. (Bob) Faul Academic Excellence Grants. Individual grants up to $1500 will be considered in this cycle. Grant applications are due to the Foundation Office in LF 105 by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2004. Grant applicants must use the attached application. All grant applications must be typed. The term Academic Excellence is defined as any project which significantly enriches the quality of the overall learning experience at MPC. It assumes projects and program activities which are beyond the sources of public funding. The Monterey Peninsula College Foundation awards Academic Excellence Grants to Monterey Peninsula College faculty members in three areas: Instructional Materials Grants are awarded to enhance the classroom experience and directly improve classroom instruction and/or student performance. Faculty Professional Development Grants are awarded to increase faculty knowledge, skills, and research which will, in turn enhance the curriculum. Research and Competition Grants are awarded for activities which enhance student performance beyond the instructional standards available in a particular course or curriculum. Process and Review Cycle · Foundation grants are awarded twice yearly. Applications must be typed and submitted on forms provided by the Foundation. Grant applications must be received by 5:00 PM, February 25, 2004, in the Foundation Office, LF 105. · Grant proposals will be reviewed by the Foundation Grants and Scholarship Committee and then presented to the MPC Foundation Executive Committee for its approval on March 11th. The Executive Committee will recommend the grants to the Foundation Board of Directors on March 24th. · Grant checks will be paid to MPC Fiscal Services to be held for the Grantee, and to be awarded to the Grantee per written instructions by the MPC Foundation. All Grantees are required to use the funds for the purposes awarded or return the funds to the Foundation within six months of the grant.
